Visit Day Accommodations

If you are in need of accommodations while visiting UW-Madison during Visit Day, please consider these options.

  1. A block of hotel rooms has been reserved at the DoubleTree Hotel for visiting students for April 4 and April 5. Rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis with the option to have your own room or be paired with another visiting student of the same gender. If you are interested in the hotel block option, please indicate your request on the registration form. If you stay at the hotel with the reserved block of rooms, the department will pay for the room directly and the cost will not be deducted from your travel reimbursement allotment. You will be responsible for incidentals and incidental charges cannot be reimbursed.
  2. If you do not wish to participate in the room block, you may make local lodging arrangements on your own and you may be reimbursed for your actual lodging rate up to a maximum rate of $131 per night for April 4  for April 5 (State Rate). Rooms must be booked directly with the hotel. Airbnb is also a reimbursable option. The UW will not reimburse you for reservations made through third party vendors (Expedia, Hotels.com, Kayak, etc.) or lodging at a hostel. When making your hotel reservations, you may ask for the State Rate as a guest of the UW-Madison, Department of Economics PhD Visit Day.  However, hotels are not obligated to provide that rate. Please review the Reimbursement page for more details. If you have further questions, please contact Dana Rockett, dana.rockett@wisc.edu.
