Richard A. Meese

Richard Meese is a former Managing Director in the Global Market Strategies Group at Barclays Global Investors (BGI) in San Francisco. He was responsible for BGI’s active currency and global macro hedge fund strategies. Prior to BGI, Dr. Meese was Professor of Economic Analysis and Policy in the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley for 16 years. Prior to his academic career, he served as a research economist in the International Finance Division of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve.

Dr. Meese received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Michigan, and his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. He lives in Napa, California with his wife, Liz Christensen, where they grow grapes, make wine, and look after a passel of surrogate children, including dogs, a cat, and Japanese Koi fish.
