Stephen E. Kravit

Stephen E. Kravit, JD is the founder and lead trial lawyer of Kravit, Hovel & Krawczyk s.c., a boutique Milwaukee trial law firm specializing in aggravated litigation™. The firm commonly represents clients in cases involving economic issues, such as securities fraud, white collar criminal defense, antitrust/business regulation, contracts, and class actions, among many others. He received his B.A. (Honors) from UW, where he majored in economics/industrial organization. While an undergraduate, he was the recipient of the Theodore Herefurth Award for Initiative and Efficiency. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School.

He is an elected Fellow, Wisconsin Law Foundation, and Fellow, American Bar Foundation.

He began his career as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, where he achieved national recognition for obtaining the conviction of Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company, one of the nation’s first domestic kickback fraud cases. For this work he won the United States Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award in 1979. In private practice, he continues to represent clients in important cases, where the stakes – bet the company, critical law changes, large damages, and sometimes freedom – are high. He has been selected as a SuperLawyer since the designation started, and has been named one of the Top 50 attorneys in Wisconsin (Top 25 in Milwaukee) multiple times, in addition to being named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in 2014.
