Laurits Christensen

Dr. Laurits R (Lau) Christensen earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

From 1967 to 1987 Dr. Christensen was Professor of Economics at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. During that time, he published 65 articles in leading economic journals and established himself as an authority on applied microeconomics, economic evaluation, and econometric modeling.

Dr. Christensen in 1976, together with Dianne Christensen and Doug Caves, co-founded Laurits R Christensen Associates. He specialized in working with the energy, postal, telecommunications, and transportation industries; he also led the company’s legal practice for over two decades. In this work, he testified in landmark cases such as DOJ v. AT&T, MCI v. AT&T, and Polaroid v. Kodak. He is retired from Christensen Associates, but continues to serve on the board of directors.
