Fall 2020 Opportunities – Week 3

Center for Pre-Law Advising

The Center for Pre-Law Advising provides advising and other resources to UW-Madison students and alumni in the process of considering, preparing for, or applying to law school. Our professional pre-law advising staff is available to assist with course selection, law school application development, and research on careers in the legal profession.

You can begin learning more about CPLA here. You can discover who the advisors at CPLA are as well as learn what kinds of questions their staff can assist you with. You will also find the type of questions they may be asking you after you meet with them. In order to be best prepared for a meeting, you should do your research first. You can look up questions to consider on their webpage, or you can do some self-exploration research. Why is law interesting to you? What kind of law are you considering? How have you explored this interest previously- coursework or not?

Are you an incoming freshman? Learn more about coursework options and what you can do to start now by reviewing the Freshman Advising document (you must be logged in to your wisc.edu account to view this file).

You can also attend events put on by the Center for Pre-Law Advising, such as the Law School Application Boot Camp. The Law School Application Boot Camp is a MUST if you plan on applying to law school in the fall or want to get a jump start on planning for next year. This event will be taking place this month on September 22nd from 12 – 1 p.m. To find more information about this event as well as other events hosted by CPLA, please visit https://prelaw.wisc.edu/events/.

CPLA is currently conducting appointments remotely via online or phone meetings. Click here to find an advisor and schedule your remote appointment. You can also join their mailing list.
