Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Q: Where did you go to college/grad school and what was your major(s)?
A: I did my undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I got a B.S. in Community & Nonprofit Leadership from the School of Human Ecology.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: One of my favorite things to do for fun is going on long bike rides. The Lake Loop around Lake Monona is great! I enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, and I’ve been baking my way through Claire Saffitz’s recipes.
Q: What is your favorite book or movie right now?
A: For fiction, I like “Pride” by Ibi Zoboi. It’s a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with the same levels of drama, love, and wit. My favorite non-fiction book is “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer or “The Hidden Life of Trees” by Peter Wohlleben because nature is neat.
One of my favorite movies is “Moonrise Kingdom” by Wes Anderson. It’s funny, it’s weird, and it’s really cute.
Q: What’s a favorite trip or vacation you’ve been on?
A: I went on a camping trip around Lake Superior, which was a week long trip and was a lot of fun. It didn’t rain at all, which was probably the luckiest thing that ever happened to me.

Q: Where did you grow up?
I grew up very close to Madison, in Waunakee, Wisconsin – the only Waunakee in the world!
Q: Where did you go to college/grad school and what was your major(s)?
I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and my major was speech-language pathology. After realizing I did not want to be a speech-language pathologist, I got my master’s degree here at UW-Madison in Global Higher Education.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
I love reading books from my local library, staying active (yoga, pilates, swimming), and dining out with friends. My sweet calico cat, Tashi, also consumes much of my love and attention!
Q: What is your favorite book or movie right now?
Two of my new favorite authors that I discovered recently are Akwaeke Emezi and Mieko Kawakami. I rarely watch movies these days. I (shamefully) prefer reality TV shows that I will not list here!
Q: What’s a favorite trip or vacation you’ve been on?
Tokyo, Japan with my sisters. One of my sisters was studying abroad at Sophia University in Tokyo and acted as our tour guide when we visited. After doing things like seeing Hello Kitty World (Sanrio Puroland) to going up the Tokyo Skytree, I was feeling pretty inspired.

I’ve really enjoyed the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths this year–woman archeologist solving crimes in the U.K. My favorite movie series of all time is the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The trip I took with my host family to Sadogashima, Japan holds a special place in my heart. Beautiful scenery, yummy food, and lots of memories made with people I care about!

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Slinger, WI…. More cows than people, like most of small-town WI!

A: UW Madison for both. My UGRD major was English, with certificates in Education & Educational Studies, and Leadership MS was ELPA, emphasis in Student Affairs!
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: Looking at other people’s pets, over-loving my cats, cleaning excessively, and not following recipes while cooking and baking. As my UGRD time suggests, too, I love to read. Currently digging through The Wheel of Time, it’s excellent!… but my favorite book is The Book Thief (Markus Zusak).
