This position has dual main responsibilities: Payroll and Graduate Program Admissions and Aid; both of which deal with much confidential information. This position will initiate, define policies and process payroll and related functions for the Department of Economics. This individual also provides payroll information for the merit exercise and for budget support to the Department Administrator and Department Chair, and coordinates payroll information with the financial specialists. This position will also oversee the admission and funding of graduate students to the University and the department. The PhD program receives over 600 applications annually for the graduate program. This position will oversee the processing of all applications, securing funding for fellowships and scholarships as well as provide statistical reports and data to internal and external reporting agencies. In addition, this position will attend to miscellaneous responsibilities such as TA office assignments, conference planning and assisting Vilas Professor Steven Durlauf.
